Who should attend?

This seminar is designed for advanced beginners and intermediate level photographers with digital cameras, or film cameras, with wide angle and telephoto lenses. Anyone interested in improvingor developing their outdoor photography skills should attend.

Where will we meet and where should we stay?

The Anniversary Inn of Estes Park, Colorado will host this seminar and serve as our base of operations, classroom location and sleeping accommodations for two nights. The seminar is priced separately from the room reservations. You are not required to stay at the Anniversary Inn to attend this seminar, but it is highly recommended. Where will the field sessions be held?

Weather permitting, we will caravan as a group to strategic locations for landscape photography opportunities at sunrise and sunset. These locationswill be in and around Rocky Mountain NationalPark. During the middle portions of the day, we will seek wildlife photography opportunities in thepark and surrounding area. Indoor classroom
discussions will be held at the Anniversary Inn.

What level of experience best fits this seminar?

Participants should have good familiarity with their camera and lenses. It’s a good idea to bring your camera manual, so the seminar leader can help with some functions and adjustments. A sturdy tripod is highly recommended. Anyone who wants to improve their landscape and wildlife photography skills will be welcomed to attend. The field photography sessions may involve a moderate hike of less than two miles and elevation gain of less than 1000 feet. Weather in the winter mountains can be harsh, so be sure to bring warm clothes and good hiking boots. An ability to layer clothes is always a good idea. Wool socks are highly recommended. Snowshoes and YakTrax may be needed. Snowshoe rental in Estes Park is very reasonable. A RMNP pass is required.

What will be the approximate itinerary?

Please plan to arrive at the seminar site by late afternoon of the first day. Weather permitting, there may be some landscape photography opportunities to share with the seminar leader. Settle into your room and relax in this unique mountain locale. A brief meeting will be held at 5:30 pm to become acquainted and discuss the schedule for the next two days. We will also coordinate plans for the next morning’s sunrise landscape photography opportunity. You may explore Estes Park on Friday night and choose a restaurant for your evening meal (not included). The morning of the first full day will begin with a continental breakfast and an early departure to a strategic landscape photography destination. We will return to the Inn for a midmorning brunch (included). After brunch, we will gather for an indoor discussion of photography... related to how to best use our cameras to capture great images.

We will head out for an early afternoon wildlife photography session. By 4:00 pm, we will meet back at the Inn for another indoor session. Your evening is free to enjoy
the area for an evening meal (not included). The final day will also involve a landscape photography shoot at sunrise after an early continental breakfast. After the landscape photo session, brunch at the Inn will be served (included). After brunch, we will have our final indoor discussion. Depending on the weather, we will have another wildlife photography session in the afternoon.

What is the cost?

The photography seminar is $200.00 per person, plus $50.00 meal package per person. This includes 2 continental breakfasts, 2 brunches and refreshments available

Richard H. Hahn is an award winning professional landscape and wildlife photographer, having lived in Estes Park, Colorado for five years. Richard and his wife, Helen, own and operate Alpenglow Images & Accents at 165 Virginia Avenue in Estes Park, Colorado. Richard’s familiarity with the special photo opportunities in Rocky Mountain National Park and the surrounding area make him a well qualified guide for the field sessions and the indoor Q&A sessions. Richard is an expert in digtial photography.

What is the cancellation policy?

If you must cancel your reservations, we will provide full refunds up to 10 calendar days prior to the beginning of the seminar. We will maintain a waiting list, as soon as the seminar is full. The seminar is limited to 12 participants. In the event that we find it necessary to cancel the seminar for any reason, we will refund all deposits.
